Aparte de ser uno de los directores de cine independiente más importantes de la década de los 80 y 90, Jim Jarmusch también se dedica a la música. El próximo 28 de febrero publicará un nuevo disco junto al músico, compositor y colaborador habitual Jozef Van Wissem. Se llamará Concerning the Entrance Into Eternity y la portada es la que podéis ilustrando estas palabras.
Aunque Jarmusch fue el teclista de una banda de punk en los años 80, en este nuevo disco explota su faceta como guitarrista. Echándole un vistazo a las bandas sonoras de sus películas nos topamos con nombres como Neil Young, John Lurie o The Stooges, así que nos podemos hacer una idea de lo que le gusta, aunque en este caso su propuesta es más experimental. Escuchamos “The Sun of the Natural World is Pure Fire”, una de las canciones que se incluirán en la placa:
Es inevitable escuchar este tema sin pensar que sería una muy buena opción para ambientar una de sus películas. El laúd y sus melodías barrocas sirven de contrapunto a las densas atmósferas creadas por Jarmusch, que ha elegido una distorsión de guitarra eléctrica muy saturada que transmite sensaciones incómodas.
No parece que vaya a ser un disco fácil de escuchar, pero tampoco dijo nadie que la música solo fueran armonías agradables, ¿no?

What people currently find obnoxious, future generations will cherish the same way poets love Rimbaud’s early days.The literary community should be thrilled about Tao Lin a young innovative writer who is deeply invested in his work and caters to his fans.The only drawback to Tao Lin’s is his incredibly pervasive influence among young writers. It is downright comical how many young writers (particularly internet published writers) mimic him. Tao Lin’s deadpan style is the most copied voice since Hemingway took out the adjectives. There is basically an entire internet publishing industry that churns out Tao-type prose for the disaffected young urban literati. It is so ubiquitous that it is easy to overlook the voice of the young, literary-minded, internet writer is Tao Lin’s voice.But, like any true innovator, none of the imitators can do it quite like him.
